Spabbit Recommended Mac Softwares

Here are some lists of MacOS Software I swear by, and use daily in most cases. It's not all free, and sometimes will cost dearly. These are all native to Mac silicon so will be reasonably future-proof. Some will be in the app-store, some will be independently available. Tip: Items which are available both in and outside of the App Store may be cheaper if purchased on their own websites.

(am I the only one who hates the word "app"?)

System / Useability / Utility

For any Macbook

• Supercharge (utilitty and settings toolkit, sits in the menu bar)
• Launchie (since Tahoe, the launcher is missing - this brings it back)
• BatFi (apple have introduced battery management, but this does it better)
• Scroll The Volume (mac native volume controls are poor, especially when it's docked)
• Rectangle Pro (easily control window position, especially on external monitors)
• Amphetamine (mac power saving is an aggressive bitch, control it wieth Amphetamine!)
• Bartender (lots of software out there to control the menu bar, especially with the notch)
• Noir (Safari addon which makes dark mode a thing!)

For using multiple browsers

• Velja (sits in the menu bar and allows you a quick click select default browser, or rules for click)

For multiple displays

• Better Display (gives you better monitor management)
• Docklock Plus (theres a bug where the dock jumps monitors, this fixes it)

Best E-Mail Client

• EmClient (it's like Outlook, but not shit)

Text Editor

• NextPad++ (yada yada yada... people are gonna whinge about this choice, but it's the best)

Graphic Editor

• Pixelmator Pro (costs $/£ 49, but worth it!)

Media Library Player

• Infuse (Do you have a library of media on usb / nas - this is for you!)

Sound and video conversion and management

• dbPowerAmp suite (if you deal with media files a lot, this is where the action is)
• Mp3Tag (does what it says on the tin, best out there)

Games

(not the strongest on the mac lol, these are my casual go to games)

• Platypus ReClayed (side-scrolling shooter - fucking-a)
• Defence Zone (brilliant and simple tower defence)
• Defence Zone 2 (guess lol)
